(Re-) Discover Chaoticprime custom Evil Wizard Deck!

Chaoticprime made these cards to make Heroquest more fun. Mostly more fun for the Evil Wizard player, but also for masochistic heroes (the best kind).

Chaoticprime put some effort into giving the descriptions both the brevity and lingual-style used by the game system, but otherwise unequivocal demands required some changes to the style-guide. Inspiration for these was drawn from the Doom board-game, Descent and the similarly fan-bade and optional Hero and Evil Wizard Combat Card decks found hereabouts and elsewhere.

RULES for PLAY

> The Evil Wizard player begins each Quest by drawing three Evil Wizard cards at random.
> Played cards are discarded face-up in the Evil Wizard deck discard pile.
> The Evil Wizard may play as many cards on his, or the Heroes', turn if the requirements listed on the card are being met.
> At the start of his turn, the Evil Wizard player may draw one Evil Wizard card only if there are no revealed monsters on the board.
> If the player forgets to draw a card, he may not interrupt ongoing play to do so.
> Playing a card must occur exactly when its requirements are met. Once anything else has taken effect, the opportunity is lost.
> When the last card gets drawn from the Evil Wizard deck, shuffle the discard pile and start back at the top again.
> Interrupt Heroes' turns by saying, "However!"
> The Evil Wizard is obliged to read aloud the appropriate portion of each card. However, if a player requests more information, or to see the card itself, kill them.

CARD CLARIFICATIONS
> Any contextual reference pointing to Heroes also points to Men-at-Arms hired by the Heroes.
> If the requirements of a card describe any one Hero or monster, subsequent references of "the Hero" or "the Monster" refer to these specifically.
> Cards that play 'immediately' interpose between one event and another, and will describe that with "before, after or during."

(Re-) Discover Lemmeron's custom equipment cards for HeroQuest!

We have a lot of talented member at the inn. One of them is Lemmeron.
Some time ago, he made made a deck of custom equipment card for his family for hero quest.

He originally was going to go the print at home route, but being a perfectionist he couldn't handle it when the front of the card didn't line up proper with the back due to home printer duplex mode sucking.

So he went the full photoshop high Rez design and professional print mode.

A summary of my card system :
* utilises the black, green, orange and purple combat dice (see here for more infos)
* all heroes now have different starting dice that serve to differentiate them all. Barbarian higher chance to hit and be hit. Dwarf standard. Elf lesser chance to hit and be hit. Wizard lesser chance to hit and more of being hit.
* magical attack or effects using purple dice.
* equipment cards add to characters starting dice in most circumstances rather than simply replacing them
* dual wielding balanced and fun
* helmet and bracers function changed.
* new armour rules for heavy armour
* artifact cards revamped for new combat dice and system
* artwork attempts to tie in with old school cards but cards are higher quality than the originals (the ones shown are full plastic and so will never wear out)

Cleric spells cards

[This is an extract from YeOldeInn's forum]
Thanks to Arkcaver for having made that !
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been reading through the forum over the last week, and this thread: http://forum.yeoldeinn.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1555 has inspired me to work on some of my old cards. They are really showing their age!

These are some Cleric spell cards that I made but never published. Here is a bit of info on them:

1) I've always thought that Mind Points were not utilized properly in HQ. So these use Mind Points to defend against the spells.
2) I didn't write this on the card, but my house rule was if a creature starts with 0 mind points then a spell that uses mind points to defend can't be cast on it - it is immune. Use the rule or not... up to you.
3) The rules specifically say that to cast a spell the target must be visible. I didn't bother writing 'that you can see' on most of the cards because of this rule. I did specify things like 'in the same room or corridor', meaning hat the Cleric can cast these spells on Heroes/monsters, even if he can't see them.

I've got another set I'd like to do next (Druid spells), then I'd like to start redoing my older ones.

Here is the back for the Cleric Spells:

Custom EU Potion Cards

The final set of custom made European format cards: Potions!
I wanted to have the option to make a seperate Potions deck, with all the potions from every expansion ever made, including the US sets, and poisons as well. So I remade the original EU cards, added remakes of the US cards, and even added a few new cards in the mix.

Here it is, I hope you like them:

Custom EU Equipment Cards

In this post I'll show you my latest custom EU format Equipment Cards. These are basically just remakes of the original Equipment cards from the base game, but I added several new weapons from the US Armoury. I just felt I needed more weapons to choose from and save gold for, especially when getting ready for the tougher US quests.

So here it is:

Custom EU Treasure Cards

More cards are finished! This time I made a new set of Treasure cards, adding the US treasures from the Elf and Barbarian Quest Packs to the existing EU treasure cards. If you need to print a set of the original Treasure cards from the EU base game, look here. This new pdf includes only the US treasures and 2 new treasure cards: Scroll cards for the Scroll Deck, and Potion cards for the upcoming Potion Deck.

Custom EU Elf Spell Cards

Time for more custom EU format cards from the US expansion Mage of the Mirror.
I've converted the 8 Elf spell cards to the EU format, and tweaked some spells a little. Some were severely overpowered, and some needed a tiny boost. See for yourselves!

Custom EU Artefact cards

After I made my EU versions of all the monster cards, including the US expansions and monsters from other fantasy boardgames, it was time to make some more Artefact cards.
The US versions of the base game, Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord had different and more Artefacts (or Quest Treasure) in the game. So I searched a bit, and found that Zenithfleet from Ye Olde Inn had already converted the US cards into EU format.

The only thing that bugged me were the standard backsides of the cards: The red book. All the other cards have a little scroll at the bottom, with a text, stating what sort of cards they are. But not these. I felt this had to be changed, just like the Monster cards (I also added a scroll with text on those).

The only Artefacts that were still missing were those from the US expansions The Frozen Horror and The Mage of the Mirror. I took a look at those cards as well, did some minor rebalancing, and made EU versions of those as well.

Then I remade the original base game artefacts, so you can now print all the game's artefacts in EU format, with a new card back. So here they are! Enjoy:

Custom EU Scroll cards

More custom cards!
You might have already seen my Monster and Chaos spell cards, remade into European format with some new art and new descriptions where necessary. Now it's time for Scrolls!
Some US expansions had Scroll cards, which were added to the treasure deck. These scrolls were one use only spells, which could be used by any Hero.

I wanted to have these scrolls available for EU games as well, but not as treasure cards. I wanted them to be seperate Scroll cards, in a seperate deck. When I finish my remake of the Treasure deck, I'll add treasure cards with a scroll as well, that tells you to draw a scroll card from the new scroll deck. This way, Morcar can simply add scrolls to a quest for the Heroes to find, but there is also a random chance of finding a random Scroll Card when searching for treasure.

I added all the scrolls from Kellar's Keep, which were redone by Zenithfleet from Ye Olde Inn, plus some of my own, and some that were inspired by others (Flint and Slev, thanks guys!). Then I added the Barbarian and Elf Quest Pack scrolls as well.

Custom EU Chaos Spell cards

I'm on a card making frenzy, so after my Monster cards, I started making Chaos Spell cards for EU games. The US base game and addons all had Chaos Spells which were used by the evil Chaos Sorcerers and other villains. The EU games didn't. Only Against the Ogre Horde had 3 Chaos spells, and those weren't even cards, but tokens. Wizards of Morcar did have spells for the evil Wizards, but those were different from the "regular" Chaos Spells. Those can be found at Ye Olde Inn.

Zenithfleet from Ye Olde Inn had already done some cards from the US base game, so I started with his work, and added Chaos Spells from all other expansions that had them. I had to do some balancing here and there, and I also renamed a few cards that already existed in other expansions such as Mind Blast (from AtOH and tMotM) which I renamed Paralysis, and Dispell (from WoM and tMotM) which I renamed Counterspell.
I also created cards for the AtOH spells, using the art from the tokens, and doing some photoshopping.

Here's the result, I hope you like them!

Custom EU/UK monster cards

HeroQuest was published in both the US and Europe/UK/Australia. But as you may know, the rules of play were different. Monsters in the EU/UK version all had 1 body point, and died as soon as you managed to damage them in an attack. The US version had tougher monsters.
There were also different expansions in the US and EU/UK. The Barbarian Quest Pack (the Frozen Horror) and the Elf Quest Pack (the Mage of the Mirror) were never released in Europe.

I felt that we Europeans should also have the possibility to play these quests. The quests themselves can be found at Ye Olde Inn, but there are no European cards of the US monsters, as those were never made. Using the US cards with the US monster stats may prove too difficult when combined with the EU rules.

So I created monster cards of these two quest packs, plus some additional monsters from the HeroQuest Marvel winter special magazine, and did some tweaking with the stats.
As of version 2.0, I also added the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy boardgame monsters and some other monsters to the list. I also added the Wizards of Morcar monsters (wizards and men-at-arms). That expansion did have Men-at-arms cards for the players to hire, but no monster cards at all.
The only monsters I didn't add are the 4 Ogre cards from Against the Ogre Horde, because those were already done very nicely by Cyber333. Download those cards here.

Now some monsters are still a lot more powerfull then the regular EU monsters, but I hope these cards will be of use to European players who would like to give those exclusive US monsters a try in their quests, or perhaps try a swing at the original US expansions. Enjoy!
